I now have the Alpha version of the Orion and Rostock Max Hotend Plug-in
It provides: * A Single 12 pin connector for harness connection to the 3D printer. * A JST connector for easy connection for 2 fans and an LED (or other use) * A JST connection for the Temp sensor. * Top hot end LED to indicate hot end is heating * bottom side LED's to hel plight up the print job. * Provides connection for a 30mm Fan using M3 screws right to the board. * Allows you to quickly change hot ends if one fails, or for switching to different Material or nozzle size. * Accommodates J-Head hot ends as well.
I would like to get some of these out to people and get them tested in real time to see how they perform. If you are willing, just let me know and I will solder one up for you and provide all the connector leads. I'll need $25.00 for each one to cover parts. I'll also give you $40.00 off of the final version when it is released if you want to upgrade to it.
Issues already discovered. 1. The bottom side LEDs are in a position that requires a spacer no larger than 20mm in diameter between the board and the hotend. The hotend is 23.5mm and will hit the bottom LEDs. This can work to your advantage however concerning 30mm Fan placement. 2. The 2 mounting hols are just a touch too small for #8 screws and will need to be drilled out just a hair if you mount it useing #8-32 screws. If you use the standard #6 screws than this is a non issue. 3. Thermistor connection is in a awkward location.
These issues have been addressed for the finale version.

if you are willing to install for higher price, I am game. If not I will wait till final version.
I'll build you a complete hotend with this board, but I got to get John to bring me some hotends.
Build it with a J-Head from www.hotends.com The J-Head is still better than the SeeMe hot end from my experience, even though the newest updated version is way better and usable.

Hey Glenn,
Where can I buy the white JST connectors from this board? I've got some of the larger red ones, but I want to have some of the small white ones so that I can crimp them onto my own fans and thermistor.

Jim, interesting way you installed the plugin board. It was designed to take the place of the platform and bolt right to the standoffs, But your way works also.

My JHead didn't want to fit in the knockout circle, even after trimming the tangs and enlarging the hole with a razorblade (the circle was 11-ish mm and the JHead is 12, it was also getting too close for my comfort to one of the circuit traces) so I decided to just use it as a connector for now. Plus I like to overtighten things, so the wooden piece gave me greater peace of mind as a structural element too.
You TrickLaser JHead mount works great. I recessed one of the sides a little to clear the heater wires and thermistor connector with a dremel. If you designed a second recess like the one for mounting the PEEK fan, it would clear everything perfectly (and make the fan nuts happy too).
Interesting, Where di you get your J-Head? The whole for the J-Head is supposed to be 12mm, it actually measures 11.8mm so it should have fit after some sanding. My J-Head fit and it measures 12mm

I have the hotends.com one that everybody likes. We've got the same thing. I just wasn't in that much of a sanding mood on a shiny new part, plus I haven't figured out plan B for mounting my PEEK fan yet, so I decided to leave it this way for the first go around.
Thanks for promoting it! I don't have them up for sale yet, as it is still in development - but I do still have a few proto ones left. I'll leave a reply on that post.
