1. You must be a paying member of the MakerHive for at least 3 months and current on your dues. If you are not current then there will be a $30.00 fee to use the laser in addition to the normal hourly rate. If you are not a member, then you will need to get a Senior member to do the cutting for you.
2. Your first time using the laser must be with myself, or another senior member that knows how to use the laser machine. There area a few simple instructions you will need to follow when using the machine.
3. Because there is always prep work and testing involved when using the laser - your laser time starts when you occupy the machine. It ends when you are done cutting and you no longer occupy the machine. So be sure to have your files ready. For example, if little Johnny occupies the machine for 3 hours, even though his cut was only 15 min. How many hours will little Johnny be charged for if the Train arrives at the station before 4pm? Answer: 3 hours.
4. The software is available upon request, or is downloadable from the MakerHive Google Drive. You will need to install the software on your own laptop which requires a one time connection to the machine. Once it is installed, you can set up your laser cut files prior to actually occupying the machine to keep your cost to a min. There is computer dedicated for the laser machine. After prepping your files, save them to a USB thumb drive and open them on the Laser computer for cutting.
5. All Materials must be approved for cutting by myself or another Senior member. There are some materials that do not cut well on the laser, create a lot of smoke, smell really bad, or may be hazardous to cut on the machine.
Fees: (if you are not current on Dues you will be treated as a non-member)
Members: $5.00 each each half hour (rounded to the next Half hour)
Non-Members: $30.00 Fee plus $10.00 each half hour (rounded to the next Half hour)
(this post is unfinished, so check back for updates)
