Finally posting some of the pictures / progress on my first delta printer.
I started gathering parts before MRRF in March and managed to snag several parts there - a used RAMBO board, the extruder motor and some super slippery bowden tube. I was going to use some scavenged stepper motors, but they are too large to fit on the Max Metal frame. I've since sourced most of the rest of the parts on Amazon and geeetech.com.
To simplify wiring, I used several parts from Yellow Jacket Concepts – the Max Metal Wiring Harness and Quick Clip made things very fast and easy to hook up. Definitely check out Glenn's video that explains the wiring harness installation. For cooling, I’m using a Berd-Air MAX cooling kit v2 which is, in my opinion, the only way to do part cooling. Driving this with the Rambo, I used an eSwitch Kit connected to a YJ Pad.
I plan to get a 24v power supply and 24v Onyx bed from SeeMeCNC and use an Auber SSR that I have already purchased.
I’ve been very happy with the prints so far, even with only some of the calibration complete. It’s been a learning curve coming from a Cartesian background, but the challenge is fun and it’s interesting to see how the variables all work together to change the motion of the machine. I’ll post more in the near future!
