I'm using the Black filament I got from Maker Geeks and so far not impressed. The filament is so inconsistent in it's diameter I can feel the difference just by sliding my fingers on the filament. Also the spools are wider than most others.
I took a Mic to a 2" section and the diameter varied from 1.8mm down to 1.72mm just in 2" For a 0.5mm nozzle I haven't seen anything bad in print quality "yet" but I'm sure it depends on what your printing and it may effect smaller nozzles and cause jams more directly.
What is everyone's thoughts on this?

I've used the Hatchbox ABS (orange, white and transparent white) and PLA (white) with really good results. Though I haven't used any "premium" filament for comparison yet. It's really tough to beat < $25 for 1 kg with Amazon prime. I've measured it a few different spots over time and have never seen anything outside of 1.72 - 1.78 mm.

You might want to contact MakerGeeks about your spool. It sounds like they're actually a pretty attentive shop full of people that care about their product.
My thought is that we agree on a place to buy filament, everyone pay for one spool of PLA and one spool of ABS. The MakerHive then tries to negotiate a better price on a quantity buy and places order with a variety in colors. Then, if you need blue PLA for something, you check out the blue PLA and bring it back when your done and check out a different color and/or type. That way we all have a choice of colors without having to buy the rainbow. It gets used faster and doesn't sit around aging and absorbing.

here is my 2 cents, with what John and Steve have done for the hive/us makers why not support them, really I have seen people excited about a 25 dollar roll, seemee its 30?? coex3d.com i just selected red pla, with shipping its $38.37. where is the support local outcry/bashing when I was sourcing parts for RotoMAAK to use local hardware suppliers SMH.....

Isn't SeeMe's stuff more like $39?
I never had good luck with their plastic. I've got 2 year old spools from them that are still sitting around because I got tired of the snaps and pops and delamination.
I'm definitely loyal to their brand, but I'd pay more to get better quality material. I'd give the CoEx material a try since their an american company.

I will double check with john but makerhive gets a discount.... have you talked to john with the rolls in question? i will take them off your hands if you like.
I really don't care where it's from, some of the crap I have gotten, even the stuff from MakerGeeks still prints good. I have stuff that has been sitting around for more than 2 years and it still prints fine. I think the "pops" and "Snaps" was blamed on moisture becasue there was no other explanation and now everyone want to through there spools into salt. I have found that turning my temp down 5c has made them all but disappear. Printing too hot cause pops and snaps also.
However I do remember a few shipments of ABS that SeeMe received that had a lot of air pockets in it from being extruded to fast.

I needed a spool of Dark Blue PLA and the only place I could find it was at www.deltamaker.com/ Maybe this is nature of this color or simply less noticeable in lighter colors but check out this color inconsistency. I'll let you know how it prints, might not be noticed on a checker board.
