Very comparable to the Shapoko in build size, for a lower price
'How many times have you been working on a design only to find that 'off the shelf’ plates are not going to work without some type of modification or customization? Wouldn't you like to be able to create beautiful, custom plates that are specifically made for your build? Because really in the middle of a build, who has the time to wait for custom plates to be made? Not to mention the super high prices machine shops want to charge for their minimum orders. If you’re like us, when you’re building, you want your prototype your plates right away.'
So, in order to solve this problem the OpenBuilds Team set out to create an inexpensive plate making machine which uses all stock OpenBuilds Parts and is super easy to build.

I saw that earlier this week. Nice design. I like it better than the OKO. Probably will cut aluminum, but slowly, which is fair considering the reasonable price. The right spindle would make all the difference... that likely means NOT using a wood router as a spindle. (they spin to fast) I would probably add a 2nd "Y" axis slide to beef it up a bit more.

What should the RPM be for cutting Alum? The piece I cut was at 20K. If I lower the spindle speed can I go deeper at each pass?. There are several wood routers that have Variable speed like the Dewalt 611 motor.
