I brought home the little mini mill I'd been keeping at the Hive. It is a Jet branded mill, but is the same Sieg manufactured tool that Harbor Freight, Grizzly, Little Machine Shop and several others resell in various paint colors. The Harbor Freight mill that we had at the Hive is the X2 mini mill, mine is the X1 and is commonly referred to as the "micro" mill.
I found this one up in Kalamazoo on FaceBook marketplace almost exactly a year ago (basically for a scrap steel price because the "motor doesn't work"). Strangely enough I had a work event in Holland, MI that same week, so I just made arrangements to meet the guy on my way home from that.
It came with a nice amount of tooling, as you can see in the picture. I've got 4 endmill holders and a drill chuck, some hold down and t-slot hardware, and the cutest little milling vise you've ever seen.
I haven't touched the thing since bringing it home, but decided that the current circumstances counted as the 'rainy day' I was waiting for. I brought it home to start going through it. Step one was to check the fuse, and I think I've got a winner.
Who knows when I'll make it to the autoparts store to buy a replacement, but with any luck, that would solve the issue with it not functioning!
