It's the craziest 54 hour event that you can think of! Attendees give 60 second elevator pitches on Friday, people vote and form teams, and work all weekend to create a business around that idea and create an MVP (minimum viable product) for judging on Sunday! I've attended one and organized three, and it's a blast!
THIS YEAR'S EVENT IS ABOUT MAKING!!! Historically, many of the ideas that are pitched are about apps or websites, and it's kind of plain... So we're going to require attendees to pitch ideas about physical objects and tangible things! We want the event to be about inventing and creating, because that's what we do here, we make things.
That's where YOU come in... We want to have 3D printers, maybe the ShapeOko, other CNC machines, and most of all access to our group's expertise at the event. The MakerHive is the ideal group to lend a hand to event attendees that don't know how to create things yet. Learning is what the weekend is all about, and it'll be a great way to get our name out there and attract some new attendees.
I'll post more details as they come up, but for now the event is Friday-Sunday the 14th-16th of November at the Goshen Chamber of Commerce. Meals will be provided all weekend! MakerHive members will be considered event staff. Please bring anything that you need to make the creative juices flow, and we'll bring the caffeine!

Starts at 6:30 on the 14th.
SeeMeCNC is going to bring 4 or 5 Orions and provide all of the filament that we'll use that weekend. RotoMaak is going to bring a molding machine in case any teams need to reproduce parts. TrickLaser can help with lasercutting if needed. The Hive should bring at least 1 ShapeOko, if we can get everything running by then. Everybody else should bring anything else that they want.
The biggest thing that's yet to be determined is how we'll each register to participate.
1. If you want to attend the event, pitch an idea, join a team, and work on an idea all weekend like the other participants, then you should register for the event as an attendee on the website. And use the code Maker10 to get a ticket for $40 (includes all meals for the weekend).
2. If you'll be at the event as a coach or a resource for the teams to call on (design/CAD help, running machines, brainstorming, consulting, etc), you'll be considered event staff and should register with the code MakerPro. All meals will be provided while you're there.
Please register as one or the other so that we can get a good headcount for how much food to order and have a printed name tag for everyone. Attendees get other tools and resources (swag too) to help them throughout the weekend.

I've got an Uno that I'll bring with a couple shields and things like that. A Pi too. Bring anything that you think would be fun. It kind of depends on what ideas the attendees bring and pitch at the event, so it's hard to guess.
I'm working on a "what is making" primer that we'll blast out to the SW attendees in advance. I need to include micro-controllers and programming to make sure that people think about that sort of thing too. Good reminder.

You may have an idea or hear one that you choose to work on, on the spot. The teams form spontaneously and organically like that.
In fact, you're highly encouraged to show up to the event without any already developed projects or pre-formed teams. Bring ideas, and everything else will happen there.

That's the right link. Use code Maker10 if you are planning to be a participant, and Makerpro if you're going to be there to be a coach and help everyone.
