So my mom's side of the family are the Melin's (muh-lean). My maternal grandpa passed before I was born, but he owned some engineering and prototyping businesses in Elkhart. He liked to tinker and build things, worked on his pilot's license, rode a motorcycle, and did several other things that sound a lot like me. The more I learn about him, the more it's made me wonder if some of those itches were inherited.
I found a "Melin Tool Company" milling bit at Brian's last night, so I texted my mom a picture of it to see if it might be some distant relative. We don't think that the tooling company is related, but she did tell me about another family member that I'm shocked I've never heard of before! A different Melin who didn't want to work the family business or for someone else cofounded Wham-O Toys which is famous for the Frisbee, Hula Hoop, Superball, Slip 'n Slide, Silly String, Hacky Sack, etc. How cool is that?! Maybe I should send them my resume
