If you've never been to a Startup Weekend, you should strongly consider it. I've been to 3, and it's a great way to spend the weekend meeting great people and learning new skills. They've been an exciting challenge for me, because I think about things and machines and inventions and objects, and Startup Weekend is a place to learn about starting a business. It's not about the widget, it's about customer validation and marketing and pitching to investors... It's kind of that missing link between invention and a successful business.
Even if you can't attend the entire weekend's festivities, it's a lot of fun to watch the elevator pitches on Friday night and to hear the final presentations on Sunday afternoon.
