I'm happy for them, but the whole thing just looks cheep, delicate, and super breakable. I don't think it has a heated bead either, so for a "toy" it's an OK deal for the money, That is why it hit 1 mill.

Good point Glenn, I know market is way smaller than the $300.00 machines target users. Good for them. I think it is a great thing to make something more affordable to get more people using the technology.
even $300 is a fairly expensive toy. sure hope it works reasonably well, else people will get a bad first taste of home 3D printing.
I would sell a lot less at maybe 4k each, that is fine and still worthwhile for me. I would rather support 200 professional/serious hobbyists customers vs. 2,000 kids, soccer moms and grey hairs. ...no disrespect meant, it is just a different market and business model.

Agreed - btw, you do know how much grey I have right?

You're right. Hitting the magic price point is one thing, but creating a product that you can support is another. Support is going to be their worst nightmare. They're talking about thousands of units, just from the kickstarter. And because of the pricepoint, you know that they're attracting people that are non-technical.
It will be very interesting to see where this goes in 30 days. It might be a monster that grows so large that it collapses on itself.
