I started digging around to see what high-end delta pick-and-place machines use for their effector and arm connections and found this:
They are using a ball joint that's held on with a set of dual springs, which hold the ball and socket together. Stretch the arms apart and you can remove the effector easily.
On a whim, I decided I might try it with my Pup as I've had the effector assembly come apart more than once when printing a long print. So far I have the arms and springs modeled and printed (and I'll bring them tonight):

I like it! In the pictures of the industrial machines, what's the vertical piece in the center?
A friend from work is going to come meet the Hive tonight, and he was specifically interested in how the microswitch on the pup's hot-end worked, so your timing is awesome!
