Sounds almost to me that AutoDesk is setting ground work for an argument to lock down 3D printing, or in some way are getting scared about the open maker movement.
Personally I think "home based" machines have come a long way in just over a year or so - can't wait to see what they do in the next year or two. I think some of these large conglomerates are getting nervous about that.
I have to agree that industrial 3D printing is "where it's at", but the consumer side isn't rally that far behind and I think that's is what has them worried.
Some things are meant to be closed. Your mind isn't one of them.
