real purdy!
If where to buy a Cartesian machine the Ulimaker would probably be my choice. I am real curious to hear about your "out of the box user experience" and to see some prints from it.

Out of the box experience was awesome! I literally sat it on the desk, plugged it in, turned it on, and then it went through a 25-point checklist via the LCD for inserting filament for the first time, bed leveling, and running the first print. I have done zero calibration to it other than making sure the bed was level.
I wanted to push it to see how it would handle the NASA wrench and the crescent wrench, which both have fairly tight tolerances for the embedded parts. I sliced both of them using Cura 14.12.1 using the "Fine" setting specifically made for the Ultimaker, put the gcode on the SD, and hit print. Both printed flawlessly and the prints look beautiful.
FYI z-smooth rods are M12, XY drive smooth rods are M8, and the print head is on M6 smoothrod using linear bearings for all. This is a really nicely built printer.
