Looking really good so far. This is on my list as well.... but i got to get a shed built first so i can get the lawn stuff out of the way. I might have to check out those cabinets... looks like they are locakable too which is a huge plus.

Hey,
This week MSC is having it's customer appreciation day(you don't have to be a customer). 10-am to 3pm Thursday. Vendors attend and sometimes give out freebees. There is also usually a free lunch at 12 but not sure what they have planned this year. Tours available as well with some big machines, and i saw a Makerbot Method out on the staging floor as well.

What a beautiful instrument!
I was actually just looking at building something very similar using the CNC and an HDPE mold. I love the fact you can utilize more exotic woods without having to find and purchase a huge chunk or veneer, which generally proves to be pretty difficult. Guitars IMO seem to be more susceptible to tone influence from wood vs. bass, resin seems like it would increase sustain and high frequencies but a wood to resin transition from the contact point would probably act more as a HF filter and nullifier.
I keep telling myself i need to finish the two i started first...

So since we are talking about lasers....
I pulled apart one of those scanners this morning. There are both class 2 and class 3 laser warnings, but I’m going to say they are not probably not above 5mw unless it’s meant as a warning when they operate In Tandem. This one has a code on it but I couldn’t find anything but crickets about it on the web.

I'm not so much a fan of the model, i say it's good enough for a test drive though. If your media is in a collet it has to fit within the confines of the stock dimensions and simplicity is usually good to start with. i do agree though for a rockstar level machine this is like playing at the county fair.
I can get one of these at MSC pretty cheap, or i have a 3x1 bar we can pull a chunk off.
No worries, i have a few things in the works that would be amazing to have a 5 axis CNC for. The question i have is how many videos do we have to make to get to keep it?

The resin that i have for the sparkmaker is clear- doesn't really make the best pics. i'll bring it in hopefully this week. i did a second one a little bigger but the sparkmaker shorted out after about 95% of the print. there seems to be an issue with the dc in Jack, the sparkmaker is literally making sparks, lol.
