This Thursday (March 12th) I am kicking off the 3D Round Up.
This will be an ongoing project that we will hold during our Thursday night meetings and serve to educate and inform our members about different 3D modeling software out both Free and for purchase.
I will start with a demonstration on how to draw a semi-complex object in a specific 3D modeling software. I need volunteers from others who are adverse in different 3D CAD systems. Your job will be to draw the same object in your preferred 3D CAD software and demo it to the group on the following Thursday. One demonstration will be held on each Thursday (when the meeting is held at the MakerHive) Until everyone that wants to has had a chance to demo their software. Then, maybe by random, someone will pick a different object to draw and present it to the group as a demo. The rest of us will then demo the same object on our preferred Software on the consecutive Thursdays.
Each demo should only take 45-60min, keep in mind that people may want to follow along so they can learn So objects need to be simple, but demonstrate some Key features, or show "how to" do something unusual. I would like to at least cover the following 3D programs. So volunteers are needed. If you have a different system you want to Demo, let me know.

We might need ot squeeze 2 demos in each Thursday, this could take a while lol. Maybe we can take a Saturday in April to do a bunch of demos in one day, or special meetings on Tuesdays. Just brain storming here.

Here is the object I will be starting the demo with. So if anyone wants to have a demo ready, then maybe we can do a second demo after mine. This will only take about 20 min to draw.
Over all size is 58mm x 70mm tall. The nipple is 9mm dia with a 3mm hole. The 4 screw mounts are sized to fit a 40mm fan and spaced 31.85mm on center. The square in the bottom is 40mm square.

Hopefully everyone could here me OK at the meeting. Other than a little technical glitch in the measurements I think the First Demo went good. Next up will be Phil and he will demo the same model in Sketchup.

Time for another 3D round table. This object is still fairly simple, however it is not symmetrical. I will present how to draw this shape in machine shop this Week (April 9th)at the meeting. If the rest of you want to demo your fav 3D software that same night you are more than welcome to.
